How to downgrade from Android N

Google’s Android N Developer preview was out earlier this month, and it is all over the web. If you have a compatible device (rooted), you could have explored Android N. If you are done exploring it and want to get back to your earlier Android version, here are few simple steps which teach you how to downgrade. If your device is flashed manually, the process is very simple to get back to the latest public version of Android.

Go to Google Developers Page and follow the instructions listed out to get back Android’s latest public version.

For others,

  1. Go to Android’s Beta program page where you opted in for Google’s Android N Preview.
  2. Go to FAQ where half way down the page you should find your Nexus devices which opted for this Program.
  3. Click or Tap on the photo next to your device details to its right.
  4. Tap on Unenroll device.
  5. Tap on ‘Leave Beta’ when the prompt appears for confirmation. unenroll-android-n

After you are done, OTA update will be received by your device in few minutes which will revert you back to Android’s latest public version. Ensure all your data is backed up as the phone is reset and all the data on the device will be erased completely.
