Google Photos app updated to v1.15, adds new navigation bar and albums section

Google is releasing a significant update to its Google Photos app for Android.

The new update makes it easier for the user to navigate around the app by introducing a bottom navigation bar that provides quick access to Assistant, Albums and Photos.

“Google Photos is the home for all your photos and videos. Automatically organized and searchable, you can find photos fast and bring them to life. It’s the photo gallery that thinks like you do.”

The new update makes it easier for the user to navigate around the app by introducing a bottom navigation bar that provides quick access to Assistant, Albums and Photos. It, however, doesn’t automatically hide when one starts scrolling, which takes up precious screen real estate. Maybe Google will change it later with a future update like they did with the G+ app.

Apart from this, it also renamed the Collections to Albums and added a scrolling carousel view that provides quick access to shared albums, places, peoples, collages, movies and more.

The update is being rolled out in stages and should hit your device in a few days. But you can always manually grab the apk and sideload it onto your device.
