Whatsapp Finally gets updated with the document sharing feature

Document sharing feature was one of the few things that were missed in Whatsapp and the most requested. This feature is now added to the Facebook owned app- Whatsapp. This feature is available for both Android and iOS users.

Updated Whatsapp is visible in the most recent builds available via Google Play store and the App Store- Android v2.12.453 and iOS v2.12.4. This new feature of Whatsapp allows users to share only PDF’s and doesn’t support .doc and .xis for now. However, file support is likely to expand in the future. Android users can find the “document” option in the attachment section indicating a server side update. To add the document feature, the photo and video option in the attachment section are now merged into one. The shared documents will be seen along with Media and newly added link tabs.

Along with the addition of this new feature, Whatsapp for iOS has been updated with a new key feature that lets you see the “blue ticks” from main Whatsapp chat without opening the thread. You can also zoom into the videos while they are being played. Photos or videos can be shared from Google Drive, Dropbox or Microsoft OneDrive on iOS devices. If you haven’t received the automatic update yet, you can head to Google Play Store or the App Store to update manually.
