To make smartphones more competitive HTC hints looking into Mobile VR. Although the company didn’t announce anything about their new top end smartphones at MWC 2016, a new flagship design is pipelined to be released. It has dropped hints to get into Mobile VR to recreate interest in premium-segment handphones.
While HTC is rumored to be working on ONE M10, hints have been dropped to get into Mobile VR to recreate interest in premium-segment handphones. The company faced $101 Million net loss for Q4 2015 after its flagship HTC One M9 fell short of expectation. The company also has a partnership with games publisher Valve to build a virtual reality experience ecosystem.
Earlier, HTC had denied rumors of getting into VR business which will change as the company now has a mobile VR plan. It has confirmed to launch a new flagship smartphone very soon and from all the rumors, this new device might be introduced with mobile VR solution. HTC’s VIVE VR headset was launched at MWC 2016 and is all set to go on sale from April and has proved to be more popular than the company’s smartphones even before its release.
The addition of mobile VR capabilities is for the company to be more competitive in the smartphone market.
