The U. S court for appeals on Friday handed over a significant win to Samsung in a patent dispute with its ancestral rival Apple.
According to the judgement, Samsung need not pay $120 Million in patent-infringement damages nor alter its product designs. The U.S. court appeals said that Samsung did not infringe Apple’s quick-links, slide-to-unlock or the auto-correct features. The battle over mobile design technology between Apple and Samsung is going on since many years for now since 2011. This case was extended across Europe and U.S. but none of them won the battle. Apple had whittled down over $1 Billion appeals and trials for the damage done by Samsung. Last December, Samsung paid $548 Million for a separate patent case after which Samsung applied to the U.S. Supreme court.
Friday’s ruling was issued by a 3-judge panel in a patent specialising court that tops the nation. The case number is 15-1171 named Apple Inc v Samsung Electronics Co Ltd in the U.S. Court of Appeals.
