ASUS today announced the list of devices which are set to receive the latest iteration of the Android operating system. The update will bring many new features such as Doze and improved permissions on apps.
The ASUS Zenfone 2 line-up is arguably the most bang-for-your-buck phones currently sold in the country. They are considered the jack-of-all-trades with good processors, great graphics and the excellent Pixelmaster camera. But the phone does have some chinks in its armour mostly due to its archaic Android 5.0.1 Lollipop operating system. Now the Taiwanese electronics major has given the fans of the Zenfone series some news to rejoice as they have announced the list of phones which are going to get the Android Marshmallow update.
ASUS has announced that the following devices are going to get the Android 6.0 update:
– PadFone S (PF500KL)
– ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML, ZE551ML)
– ZenFone 2 Deluxe (ZE551ML)
– ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition (ZE551ML)
– ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KG, ZE500KL, ZE550KL, ZE551KL, ZE600KL, ZE601KL)
– ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)
– ZenFone Max (ZC550KL)
– ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML)
The company has announced the devices will get their over-the-air firmware update in Q2 this year. Out of all the devices, ASUS has decided to include only Padfone S as the device from 2014 which is to be updated, leaving many Zenfone 5 users heartbroken. ASUS has also announced that the new update will replace three ZenUI apps—ASUS Messenger, ASUS Mail and ASUS Calendar with their Google counterparts, if one factory resets their phone after the update.
