In this era of cut-throat competition in the smartphones market, smartphones with 4GB of RAM are becoming pretty common. Now the Chinese tech company Vivo has set a new bar by officially confirming that its upcoming XPlay 5 flagship will have an enormous 6GB RAM, making it the first smartphone sporting that much RAM.
The confirmation arrives from Vivo’s Weibo account post featuring a teaser image mentioning 6GB LPDDR4 RAM for the Vivo Xplay 5.
The post also confirmed that the phone will be running the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC under the hood.
Other devices rolling out with the Snapdragon 820 are Samsung Galaxy S7, LG G5 and Sony Xperia X Performance.
The Vivo Xplay 5, with SD820 coupled with 6GB LPDDR RAM, could technically give a tough run to new phones like the Galaxy S7 and the LG G5 in terms of sheer performance.
The phone is also expected to come with a dual-curved 6-inch display with a quad-HD resolution. Though the final words are yet to come, other specifications that are expected in the device includes a 16MP rear shooter, an 8MP front and a monstrous 4300mAh battery equipped with solar charging.
It is scheduled for launch on March 11, this year.
