The most famous cross-platform mobile messaging app WhatsApp finally becomes free.
Whatsapp is finally ditching their annual subscription fee which was 1$(Rs.68) across various platforms over the next several weeks. For the first year, WhatsApp remained free for all the users. After the first year, most of the users were given free usage extensions each year. The company accepted that the approach to annual fee didn’t work successfully.
“Many WhatsApp users don’t have a debit or credit card number, and they worried they’d lose access to their friends and family after their first year. So over the next several weeks, we’ll remove fees from the different versions of our app and WhatsApp will no longer charge you for our service”, says the company in an official blog post.
Back in September 900 million monthly active users milestone was reached by this app. Now they have a whopping one billion people around the globe! WhatsApp also revealed about their upcoming plans for connecting people with business and organizations directly and new tools to target the new audience. They also confirmed that they won’t be introducing any third party ads by while making WhatsApp free. What’s a better start to 2016 than getting to know that this SIMPLE, PERSONAL, the REAL-TIME messaging app is bringing the world even closer by making itself FREE!
